Kidsafe Hunter was formed as a Regional Committee of Kidsafe (Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia) in October 1992 with the assistance of a seeding grant from the Roads & Traffic Authority of NSW. Three grants in all were received over three years, which allowed the committee to firmly establish itself as an authority on child prevention within the Hunter Region.

Our main purpose is minimise the risk of serious injury to children in the Hunter area and to reduce the stress on parents in dealing with child safety issues.

Our major goal is to establish a Child Safety Education Centre which will incorporate the Regional Headquarters of Kidsafe Hunter.

MISSION STATEMENT

Promote the safety of children and to minimise the risk of serious childhood injury through awareness and community education.

Objectives

To develop and consolidate a firm financial base to provide for the ongoing support of Kidsafe Hunter's management and administration functions.

To ensure that Kidsafe Hunter's key safety messages are effectively communicated.

To reduce the incidence and severity of all transport related injuries.
To ensure that children have a play environment that minimise the chance of injury.

To have all homes child friendly.

FUNDING

In 2002 Kidsafe Hunter received a Federal Regional Solutions grant of $79,500.00 toward the construction of the Child Safety Education Centre.
Despite no further operational funding coming our way, Kidsafe Hunter has continued to grow. Funds are derived from community donation, sponsorship, consultation fees and fundraising events. Your support would be much appreciated.
