Career Links is a Local Community Partnership (LCP) which has been funded to support State and Australian Government initiatives throughout Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, through Career Advice Australia (CAA).

Career Links is an incorporated, not-for-profit, community-based organisation that supports innovative programs that provide young people with the opportunity to gain skills and experience and career guidance as they move through and beyond school.

Career Links achieves this through building partnerships with local industry, employer groups and businesses, schools, career advisers, Registered Training Organisations, community organisations, parents, young people, youth service providers and other government organisations.

Career Links facilitates important programs aimed at increasing the involvement of local businesses in young people’s career development:

Structured Workplace Learning Programme - Providing structured workplacements to students in Years 11 and 12 who are studying a vocational (VET) course as part of their Higher School Certificate.

Career and Transitions Support Programme - Facilitating access for young people to a range of programmes which support the smooth transition through school to further education and work.

The Adopt a School Programme - Connecting businesses with schools to engage young people in hands-on learning activities experiences and develop their understanding of work and employability skills.

Australian School-Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships - A structured programme of training and paid employment for Year 10-12 students, that leads to a nationally recognised industry qualification as part of the HSC.
